Valentine's Day Breakfast

Our Valentine's day started out with a lovely breakfast with friends. Of course there are any number of close-by restaurants that serve lovely breakfasts, but we decided to go someplace a bit further afield, a resort called Lindo Mar just down the beach from us a bit.

Well, a bit might be somewhat of an understatement. It is a bit of a trek, actually.

And Here We Are

Well, we could have taken a taxi, but what fun would that have been? The walk was an adventure and the restaurant is well worth it. An all you can eat buffet with a great selection of food in an open-air setting with wonderful views.

My Initial Selection

The tamales were pink and a bit sweet for my taste, more like a desert than anything. The pork stew was dynamite though. Really delicious flavor and the pork was perfectly tender. I would go back again just for a big bowl of that. There were also pastries, cereals, fruits and fruit juices. It is no wonder that this place always draws a crowd.

Bar Man And Mysterious Chinese Woman

We had a great time and then headed back home almost the same way we came. We really did work for our meal. Then later we all headed out for dinner. I will post about that a little later. Now I am going to pop a cerveza and head to the pool to catch a few rays and do a little reading.

I am reading The Honourable Schoolboy by John le Carre. I am a fan of John le Carre and I don't know why I haven't gotten around to reading this book before. It is, as usual, quite good. One of my favorites was The Spy Who Came In From The Cold. I think I will make a point of reading it again along with Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. If you ever get a chance, see the movie The Spy Who Came In From The Cold starring Richard Burton. Really a great movie. Make it a double feature with Night Of The Iquana.

If you dig Le Carre check out the excellent adaptations of Tinker Tailor and A perfect Spy made by the BBC in early eighties. As good if not better than Burtons stuff and recently re-released on DVD.

Thanks for the suggestion. One of my favorite Burton movies is Villian, but I don't think it is out on DVD. I saw it in a movie theater many, many years ago.
